few things

On Monday I brought my car to the Glendale dealership to have a check engine light looked at. It turned out to be nothing important. I had to leave it there for a day and get a rental car. I ended up with a Buick Regal Custom (brand new). Yikes… I can’t imagine why anyone would actually buy one of those. I felt really unsafe driving home on the freeway, and the car only had 7,000 miles on it.

On Wednesday Amy invited me to go with her to the Staples Center. She had two tickets to the private sections (skybox?) of the center. There was a lot of free food and an open bar. The event was the opening of the WTA championships. We had a good time, but left early because my car had to be left at Athena parking…not a safe place to leave a new car after the sun goes down.

Tonight we went to another set of matches for the WTA. It was entertaining, but we didn’t have the great seats that we had Wednesday. We did however get to meet Wolfgang Puck and get an autographed copy of his new book….for free! We also got free Lindsay Davenport bobble heads, tote bags, and a free trip to San Francisco (minus airfare). Tomorrow attendees get a free racquet worth over $100.

Tomorrow Amy is going to another three matches, but with her brother this time. I’m going to be watching the Purdue game and doing laundry instead.

Sunday John and Katie are going to be here on layover from their honeymoon in New Zealand…I wonder where I’ll take them…

Here are some other things of note…

I found this wednesday night: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1919246#

And last night I stayed up late (felt like I was in college again) and made some new pieces for the gallery. They are already there…so go check it out.

  1. well, that is a half truth. They did get Robert Smith to “agree” with Clarett, except he thought Clarett was lying about any coaching staff involvement in the mess. That sounds a little fishy to me too. If Tressel directed Clarett to a used car lot…so what? When your car breaks down and you need another one, where are you supposed to go…Sears?! It was up to the lot owner and the boosters to give football players free money and cars. I can’t blame Tressel for looking the other way instead of starting an investigation that could A) get him fired B) take several top atheletes off the team C) tarnish the past and present prestige of the OSU football program D) all of the above. He just figured he would ignore it and it would go away just like it does at EVERY OTHER MAJOR COLLEGE PROGRAM. Least of which Youngstown State.. Also, doesn’t anyone remember what happened with Michigan basketball a few years ago?!

Yes, this is obviously an ESPN coup against OSU. Probably started by the same jerks that put “OSU won the game, but Miami has the better players” on Lee Corso’s teleprompter just minutes after OSU won the national title.

This could also be some weird retribution for Ohio’s contribution to the Bush Second Reich. “You’ve ruined our country, now we’ll ruin the thing you love the most..Buckeye football.”

Looks like I left town at exactly the right time…oh wait, I missed the Boss’ free concert..damn!

  2. espn is trying to take OSU down for some reason. they have been going around columbus asking for people to say bad things about OSU.

they are now going after former players and trying to dig up more negative stories. but, all they can find are a bunch of ex-players who couldn’t make the team, or were kicked off.

they don’t even bother to put respectable players interviews up.

  3. we were considering starting a drinking game around each time the announcers mentioned the “allegations”. good thing we didn’t, or we would have been drunk by halftime.

espn seems to be acting like a schoolyard rumor mill. it fabricates a story, and then acts like THAT is the reason we werent playing well this week.

no ESPN clarret had nothing to do with why we lost. we lost because troy smith is a terrible decision maker, and can’t throw a decent pass when it counts.

you probably should have gone to watch tennis than watch that embarassment….
