testing the slow cooker

This weekend Sam decided to test the new crock pot for the first time.  She’d never used a crock pot before and although my mother has one, I certainly never paid attention to how it was used.  We both ended up burning spots on our hands in the process.

Before that, however, we ate at Flemings Steakhouse downtown on Friday night.  The food was good, but we set aside a lot for later.  The next morning Sam worked her magic and turned leftover fries, steak and mashed potatoes into a delicious omelet.

After a trip to the grocery store Sam began working with the crock pot.  We had planned to eat the roast beef dish for dinner, but it would end up taking much longer than anticipated.  At sometime around 3am Sunday morning the cooker’s auto timer counted down to zero.  We forgot to buy wine to put in the sauce so we used grape juice.  Sam thought it was way too sweet, but I liked it.   The Beef was served on a bed of fresh mashed potatoes.
