{"id":1089,"date":"2009-06-01T07:13:35","date_gmt":"2009-06-01T15:13:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=1089"},"modified":"2009-06-01T13:32:33","modified_gmt":"2009-06-01T21:32:33","slug":"summer-solstice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=1089","title":{"rendered":"Summer Solstice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday Sam and I went to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.modernhiker.com\/2007\/09\/05\/hiking-solstice-canyon\/\" target=\"_blank\">Solstice Canyon <\/a>in Malibu to find one of the notorious waterfalls that are rumored to exist in hiking trails in this area.\u00a0 On our way to the falls we came across two houses that lay now in ruins.\u00a0 One was merely a cabin, but the other must have been quite a site in its day.\u00a0 All that remained were concrete and brick bits, of which there were at least three different fireplaces and a mechanical dam to hold what must have at one time been a much more productive stream.\u00a0 The house was directly adjacent the &#8220;waterfall.&#8221;\u00a0 After watching &#8220;Paradise Falls&#8221; less than 24 hours prior this dribble was a bit lackluster, but it was admittedly more waterfall than I&#8217;ve seen at any <em>other<\/em> hiking trail in Los Angeles (take <em>that <\/em>Fryman Canyon and your nonexistent waterfalls!).\u00a0 Please click on the link above for photos and a better description of the house ruins.<\/p>\n<p>On the steps of the house several bearded dragons were sunning themselves.
