{"id":1224,"date":"2009-07-20T17:57:20","date_gmt":"2009-07-21T01:57:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=1224"},"modified":"2009-07-20T14:12:30","modified_gmt":"2009-07-20T22:12:30","slug":"still-think-the-iphone-is-the-best","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=1224","title":{"rendered":"Still think the iphone is the best?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.techcrunch.com\/2009\/07\/18\/att-is-a-big-steaming-heap-of-failure\/\" target=\"_blank\">these<\/a> people sure don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the Pre is humming along fine for me.\u00a0 I actually get the little notification of a new email in gmail on the phone before it refreshes in my web browser &#8211; which had gotten me into the curious habit of feeling my phone vibrate in my pocket and\u00a0I thinking\u00a0&#8220;oh, I&#8217;ve got an email&#8221; and then\u00a0refreshing\u00a0my gmail window on the computer.<\/p>\n<p>Visual voicemail would be nice on the Pre, but when I see two notifications on top of each other &#8220;missed call from P Diddy&#8221; and then &#8220;1 new voicemail&#8221; you don&#8217;t have to be a genius to figure that out&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Not to mention (as noted in the article linked above) AT&amp;T won&#8217;t even tell you anyone called or left a message for DAYS.\u00a0 So much for the iphone being a business phone.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t see any business ponying up the cash to AT&amp;T to have execs miss all their important messages by three days.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;MG Siegler&#8221; doesn&#8217;t know it (apparently), but his description of an ipod touch and other cell phone used together is an apt description of the Pre.\u00a0 The Pre is engineered to use WiFi more efficiently than the Sprint network &#8211; and automatically switches to WiFi mode whenever a connection is available (it automatically connects if you&#8217;ve used one at the same location previously). Although, if you have to use the Sprint network from what I hear it is better than AT&amp;T.\u00a0 To be fair I HAVE had a call drop off and HAVE hit roaming areas in Los Angeles on Sprint.\u00a0 This never happened when I was on Verizon.\u00a0 However, to be even more fair &#8211; when I had AT&amp;T I couldn&#8217;t get a signal in my apartment.\u00a0 Any of my apartments.\u00a0 Dropped\/missed calls were a regular thing, so much so that I just thought that was how cell-phones worked.<\/p>\n<p>So, in short,\u00a0I&#8217;m putting up another post to make myself feel good about my purchase&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>But then again, the\u00a0iphone\/ipod has 50,000 apps!\u00a0 50,000!!!<\/p>\n<p>damn, now I want one&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;m so confused!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>these people sure don&#8217;t.
