“Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.”<\/em><\/p>\n

That quote from Hemmingway is one of my favorites.\u00a0 I’d have to add though that unhappiness is probably the biggest motivator for intelligent people.<\/p>\n

To that end, with my latest paint fumblings (see last blog post) I started over with some good old 2B\u00a0pencil drawing.\u00a0 I’ve had an image in my head for about 6 months of an octopus attacking a man under water.\u00a0 I decided to conquer that thought with a drawing on Friday (a select few saw the tracing paper practice sketches in email last week).\u00a0 The drawing took about 8 hours over Friday\u00a0and Saturday but I think it is done (unless I decide to go back in with an eraser for highlights and a darker pencil… but probably not).\u00a0 Unfortunately I don’t know how I can post\u00a0an image here\u00a0since I no longer have a scanner – and the drawing is larger than a standard platen anyway at around 6″x18.”\u00a0\u00a0 Why so skinny?\u00a0\u00a0Because I want to try to paint this scene on one of the pieces of wood I had cut the weekend before last.<\/p>\n

Progress on anything\u00a0creative is slow right now as we’re hitting the heavy\u00a0end of\u00a0fall term at school.\u00a0\u00a0I finished up a group presentation and paper last night, but I’ve still got\u00a0two finals and two\u00a0(lengthy and complicated finance) papers to write.\u00a0 It’ll all be over in two weeks\u00a0though – and then I hope to be able to produce a lot\u00a0more (creative) work in the\u00a0full month\u00a0I have off (from school…not work, of course).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
