{"id":1551,"date":"2009-12-11T06:58:23","date_gmt":"2009-12-11T14:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=1551"},"modified":"2009-12-11T09:15:58","modified_gmt":"2009-12-11T17:15:58","slug":"art-walk-december","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=1551","title":{"rendered":"Art Walk December"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The art walk this month, to put it bluntly, sucked.\u00a0 Sam is convinced that it is because the parking lots around the area raised their prices (our usual place went from $5 to $8), I think it might be the colder weather and the threat of rain (yes, I&#8217;m not kidding) that night.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the reason was &#8211; several of the larger more popular galleries were closed.\u00a0 That Phartika or Pharmica or whatever it was gallery on the corner is now a &#8230;. modern furniture store (blegh!).\u00a0 Even the Hive was uncharacteristically mostly bereft of anything interesting.<\/p>\n<p>The old bank had some amazing watercolor pieces by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wix.com\/annajudd\/page-1\" target=\"_blank\">Anna Judd<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/static.wix.com\/media\/15dfe220780807471d07c024d6405fa4.wix_mp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The arts and crafts &#8220;fair&#8221; was moved to the parking lot across the street from the original parking lot.\u00a0 The cause wasn&#8217;t obvious, but we did notice that there was now a greater focus on the crafts part of &#8220;arts and crafts&#8221; with more jewelry and clothing booths than art.\u00a0 There was also a much larger presence of &#8220;taco trucks&#8221; of all varieties.\u00a0 We bumped into a (food network?)camera crew filming interviews with the truck owners and vendors more than once in our travels.<\/p>\n<p>One of the larger galleries (now stamped with &#8220;Rudd&#8221; all over the windows, aparently selling condos upstairs) featured this nonsense and not much else:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/SyJ8T9s94bI\/AAAAAAAABAQ\/b9gCHwsPqjk\/s800\/IMG_0554.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Stuck in the lobby of a high rise condominum building we found Darth Vader made out of car parts (?).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/SyJ8TqSt4BI\/AAAAAAAABAM\/lYgs1IBCu2M\/s800\/IMG_0537.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m pretty sure the same lobby used to have a Predator made out of metal.<\/p>\n<p>There were several bands playing in the alleys and on the streets.\u00a0 This one was playing in the arts and crafts parking lot:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/SyJ8TaGCc7I\/AAAAAAAABAI\/hlE-8pCUBlk\/s800\/IMG_0598.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We were about to leave when we headed back to the Continental Gallery to find crazy light sculptures by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandmancreations.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sean Sobczak<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sandmancreations.com\/pics\/lad_03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sandmancreations.com\/pics\/illum_sky1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The art walk this month, to put it bluntly, sucked.\u00a0 Sam is convinced that it is because the parking lots around the area raised their prices (our usual place went from $5 to $8), I think it might be the colder weather and the threat of rain (yes, I&#8217;m not kidding) that night.
