{"id":1576,"date":"2009-12-28T19:52:02","date_gmt":"2009-12-29T03:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=1576"},"modified":"2009-12-28T19:52:02","modified_gmt":"2009-12-29T03:52:02","slug":"christmas-day-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=1576","title":{"rendered":"christmas day 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a quicker breakfast at the hotel restaurant we headed to the PIMA air and space museum.\u00a0 We spent most of our time outside in the bitter cold.\u00a0 Dad served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, so he was very familiar with many of the planes, and even had stories about riding in a few of them.<\/p>\n<p>Here is dad first showing us the entrance that he (and everyone on board) had to use to hoist themselves up into one of the bombers.\u00a0 A few seconds later he changed his mind and determined that the real entrance portal had been sealed up and the hatch you can see here is actually the bottom ejection port.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/SzlgiUxIvvI\/AAAAAAAABH8\/J-p0zIHIaaw\/s800\/IMG_1196.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I must be getting to be a softie after living in Los Angeles because I was dying walking around in 45 degree weather with blistering winds.\u00a0 We were out there about an hour and it turned my core into an ice cube and made my nose run for the next seven hours.<\/p>\n<p>Dad and I got onto a bus and took the tour of the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amarcexperience.com\/AMARCDescription.asp\" target=\"_blank\">boneyard<\/a>&#8221; on the grounds of the Davis Monthon Air Force Base.\u00a0 The tour was kind of interesting, but it would have been much cooler to be able to walk through the acres of &#8220;dead&#8221; planes.\u00a0 Since it was a base though we weren&#8217;t allowed off the bus.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/SzlgitT225I\/AAAAAAAABIA\/nkOcKSckIqM\/s800\/IMG_1208.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Szlgi8N9t3I\/AAAAAAAABIE\/o0F1b4NrqMs\/s800\/IMG_1204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After we came back we decided not to brave the cold to see the rest of the planes on display in the outdoors at the museum.\u00a0 We&#8217;d seen most of them the first time around though.\u00a0 We decided to head back into town to eat lunch at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcnesbyseastcoastsupersubs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">East Coast Super Subs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The sub ingredients were good as cherry peppers were sprinkled on, but the bread was cookie cutter.\u00a0 We also ordered onion rings, which were decent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/SzlgiN0qcbI\/AAAAAAAABH4\/iSMzEBgm64k\/s800\/IMG_1211.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Szlgh1VvMrI\/AAAAAAAABH0\/7-_YAcDPnkI\/s800\/IMG_1212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After lunch we weren&#8217;t sure what to do, so we headed to Saguro National Park and drove around the nine mile loop.\u00a0 We got off at one point and walked across a few rocks, but nobody was up for doing much more as the wind was still blowing and the sun, covered by clouds, was starting to hang lower and lower.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Szlghj6AXtI\/AAAAAAAABHw\/4vkPodK3sBQ\/s800\/IMG_1220.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/SzlgheSplGI\/AAAAAAAABHs\/x7FRA_prD1s\/s800\/IMG_0157.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We then drove a few miles up Mt.
