turf dinner).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/-xNBqhKm-rkY\/TyiCsrNGNVI\/AAAAAAAAGNk\/UBpwuo3NipY\/w600\/P1300509.JPG\" alt=\"P1300509.JPG\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We then went to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pikeplacechowder.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pike Place Chowder<\/a> for a repeat of Friday afternoon&#8217;s lunch. \u00a0Sam said it was the best clam chowder she&#8217;s ever had and I can&#8217;t disagree. \u00a0Of everything in Seattle, I have to admit, the thing I most looked forward to (other than seeing my friends, of course) was this chowder, bisque and mac&amp;cheese. \u00a0I&#8217;d had the same meal 2.5 years ago, except this time I added the crab sandwich after Byron introduced it to me on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/--iWLx08qh7c\/TyiCkyX7TTI\/AAAAAAAAGL0\/T2QrEATuPeA\/w600\/DSC07105.jpg\" alt=\"DSC07105.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After we said our goodbyes Sam and I hustled to the library. \u00a0We had three points of interest to see and we had less than 90 minutes to fit it in. \u00a0We went up to the 10th floor of the library, which doesn&#8217;t have a lookout point, but a few interesting views down into the library as well as the surrounding structure.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/-i_ePuJfoGMY\/TyiCnIFEBZI\/AAAAAAAAGL4\/jwiJl-wds-4\/w600\/DSC07106.jpg\" alt=\"DSC07106.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-7sPOZ67n0F8\/TyiCn7tE4WI\/AAAAAAAAGME\/1VJuaOAWYl4\/w600\/DSC07107.jpg\" alt=\"DSC07107.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, we scrambled down to the Columbia Tower and made our way to the 76th floor. \u00a0In the first two shots below pay special attention to that building at the corner of pioneer square with the pyramidal roof. \u00a0Smith Tower was our next destination.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/-P9kBAx5yJJo\/TyiCpS3cMTI\/AAAAAAAAGMQ\/DnUZNhSIT1Q\/w600\/DSC07118.jpg\" alt=\"DSC07118.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/-8R4B4dSiAjc\/TyiCp1oykhI\/AAAAAAAAGMg\/RKsDzbuOE5A\/w600\/DSC07119.jpg\" alt=\"DSC07119.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the photo below you can see the old haunted hospital on the hill (the reddish building on the hill in the middle of the shot) where Byron had taken me to take photos the evening before.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/-uDXg1Jarybk\/TyiCqmNiRbI\/AAAAAAAAGMw\/T3tgKRiMT9U\/w600\/DSC07120.jpg\" alt=\"DSC07120.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/-DIqi2MilWxY\/TyiCqflRSQI\/AAAAAAAAGMk\/HNRGjyj6hRo\/w600\/DSC07125.jpg\" alt=\"DSC07125.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-k5e8OxBpLGU\/TyiCqyus91I\/AAAAAAAAGM0\/N3N3iN2Vzg4\/w600\/DSC07132.jpg\" alt=\"DSC07132.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As we left the Columbia Tower it was nearly 3pm and Byron had advised us to be on the metro to the airport by 2:45. \u00a0 Our flight wasn&#8217;t until 5:45 and being used to LAX we were confident we didn&#8217;t really need to get to the airport hours before our flight. \u00a0We ran down to Smith Tower in a hurry and when we got inside we inquired with the front desk about going up to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chineseroom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chinese Room<\/a> on the 35th floor. \u00a0We were informed that the room was only open on Saturday and Sunday. \u00a0We groaned and mentioned that we had to leave to go to Los Angeles in a few hours and we&#8217;d only just heard of the room the day before, which was true as we had learned about it on the Argosy Cruise.<\/p>\n<p>The front desk attendant leaned over and whispered &#8220;I can get you in.&#8221; \u00a0The woman nodded to the elevator operator and we were whisked inside an old style manually operated brass and copper elevator from 1914.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-a_Kn5m8Soy8\/TyiCqzvQ_bI\/AAAAAAAAGNE\/17z_BzSSbec\/w600\/DSC07134.jpg\" alt=\"DSC07134.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/-rWzEWr7mLw4\/TyiCtUEQdlI\/AAAAAAAAGOk\/L0KZRcAdv5U\/w600\/P1300530.JPG\" alt=\"P1300530.JPG\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the top the attendant said &#8220;we&#8217;re normally closed on weekdays, so you guys&#8217;ll be the only ones here.&#8221; \u00a0She went over to the sliding glass door that lead to the 360 degree balcony and said &#8220;usually they lock this when the room&#8217;s not open but&#8230; okay &#8211; it&#8217;s open today &#8211; before we left. \u00a0The\u00a0attendant\u00a0told us on the way back down that normally the room hosts up to two hundred people &#8211; and whole cruises come by and visit the room together. \u00a0On a regular day the ride up is free, but there is a $7.50 charge to come back down. \u00a0Our visit was completely free of charges and people.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/-fOpuBnZWuLk\/TyiCsd4_IrI\/AAAAAAAAGNg\/Y3WKWp9sLIQ\/w600\/DSC07162.jpg\" alt=\"DSC07162.jpg\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sam and I started off our last day in Seattle with a short walk to Pioneer Square to take the Underground Tour.
