{"id":2271,"date":"2012-03-19T19:40:24","date_gmt":"2012-03-20T03:40:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=2271"},"modified":"2012-03-22T19:50:40","modified_gmt":"2012-03-23T03:50:40","slug":"testing-the-slow-cooker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=2271","title":{"rendered":"testing the slow cooker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This weekend Sam decided to test the new crock pot for the first time. \u00a0She&#8217;d never used a crock pot before and although my mother has one, I certainly never paid attention to how it was used. \u00a0We both ended up burning spots on our hands in the process.<\/p>\n<p>Before that, however, we ate at Flemings Steakhouse downtown on Friday night. \u00a0The food was good, but we set aside a lot for later. \u00a0The next morning Sam worked her magic and turned leftover fries, steak and mashed\u00a0potatoes\u00a0into a delicious omelet.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/-1H3yXHB9lm8\/T2vvyYGGpMI\/AAAAAAAAGn4\/mF2MPKU_9Do\/s842\/DSC07231.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"842\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After a trip to the grocery store Sam began working with the crock pot. \u00a0We had planned to eat the roast beef dish for dinner, but it would end up taking much longer than anticipated. \u00a0At sometime around 3am Sunday morning the cooker&#8217;s auto timer counted down to zero. \u00a0We forgot to buy wine to put in the sauce so we used grape juice. \u00a0Sam thought it was way too sweet, but I liked it. \u00a0 The Beef was served on a bed of fresh mashed potatoes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-X6K9PmUG2us\/T2vvyRZIIdI\/AAAAAAAAGn0\/Ro6vdQHYbec\/s842\/DSC07275.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"842\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This weekend Sam decided to test the new crock pot for the first time. \u00a0She&#8217;d never used a crock pot before and although my mother has one, I certainly never paid attention to how it was used. \u00a0We both ended up burning spots on our hands in the process.
