{"id":434,"date":"2007-11-27T03:48:37","date_gmt":"2007-11-27T08:48:37","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2007-11-27T03:48:37","modified_gmt":"2007-11-27T08:48:37","slug":"old-getty-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=434","title":{"rendered":"Old Getty Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday I took my parents to the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Getty_Villa\" title=\"Getty Villa\">Getty Villa<\/a> in Malibu.  I never knew I lived a 15 mile jaunt down the mountain away from the ocean.  I&#8217;ll have to take advantage of that in the future.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know what my parents&#8217; impression of the Villa was &#8211; but I was a bit bored.  After visiting the &#8220;main&#8221; Getty Center a few times this miniature Roman Centric version didn&#8217;t push my buttons.  It was very well done, very relaxing and so on &#8211; but it felt a little awkward &#8211; a giant property made up like an authentic Roman Villa &#8211; to house a few small sculptures and pieces of pottery.  The entire collection could have been shoved into one medium size room, but was instead spread out over a two level museum. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.andrewlorenzlong.com\/gettyvillahallway.jpg\" width=600 height=450 border=0 alt=''><\/p>\n<p>We left earlier than anticipated and so ate ice cream in Burbank before I dropped them off for their flight back to Ohio.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.andrewlorenzlong.com\/parentsbed.jpg\" width=600 height=450 border=0 alt=''><\/p>\n<p>okay philosophers&#8230;.is she taking the pillowcase off&#8230;or putting it on&#8230;?  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday I took my parents to the Getty Villa in Malibu.
