Seriously? Half of California bought those misleading ads? Really? Aren’t republicans supposed to be AGAINST changing the constitution? I’m all confused now…<\/p>\n
Now nobody has to worry about their children being taught about gay marriage in school.<\/p>\n
wait.. what is that? It wasn’t taught already – and gay marriage was legal? oh… <\/p>\n
So I guess all we succeeded in doing here was officially linking church and state together as one and establishing marriage as a religious ceremony. Watch out Jews, your marriage isn’t really “valid” either since you don’t believe in Jesus and we’re on our way to establishing that only male and female virgins who’ve accepted christ as their lord and savior and consumated their union in a church can have marriage tax benefits. One of the bad things about religions is that to truly believe in any of them – you have to truly believe that the others are wrong. Since the majority religion in America is christianity… we have dogma trumping common sense.<\/p>\n
Lets examine the “I don’t want my kids learning about this” argument. So.. you don’t want your kids learning about gay marriage. Which means you are uncomfortable with your kids learning about gay people. Which means YOU are uncomfortable with gay people. Which means YOU are homophobic. “No, I’m just holding true to my beliefs.” Yes, you are holding true to your homophobic beliefs. If your belief system held that black people couldn’t get married we’d have no problem defining that as a racism problem – not a “religious belief.” Stop hiding. Jesus loved everybody, right? That means everybody. Everybody. <\/p>\n

Like I said before, if you want to have some special christian monogamy ceremony that is great, you just shouldn’t get tax benefits if you’re excluding anybody. Call it “the Jesus Love Bond” if you want – just don’t let that interfere with my tax benefits for choosing a life partner (of whatever sex) – which is currently called “marriage” under the law.<\/p>\n
Hiding the real world (whether you like it or not – to quote a popular mayor) from children is one of the reasons our country is fumbling. We hide sexuality (not just homosexual, but all kinds) from our children like the plague and for some reason replace it with violence. Although MTV is putting enough trash and\/or hip hop on tv to change this I suppose. Ask a ten year old what the word sensual is and they’ll look at you funny. Ask them what “ho” means and they’ll give the names of the girls in class that are wearing the “special bracelets<\/a>.”<\/p>\n So, great, now all you upstanding christian parents can tell your kids the gay couple next door to you (and your teachers, civic leaders, etc.) is going to hell and continue the cycle of hate until the end of time (which y’all believe is coming pretty soon… give or take a few years depending on which particular sect you subscribe to). <\/p>\n Proposition 8 didn’t restore your ability to hate. You had it all along.<\/p>\n Also… (stereotype, but it is true) … gay people have money. You don’t want that money in your state? Gay couples don’t have children, they have a lot more spending cash. For a state as cash strapped as California – you’d think making life easy for gay couples would be a no brainer.
