little restaurants at the bottom of Topanga Canyon approaching the beach. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We were on our way to Santa Monica to check out Bergamot Station. \u00a0At Bergamot we skipped through a lot of galleries rather quickly as they had.. well.. crap. \u00a0One gallery had a lot of great stuff in a show called &#8220;fructose&#8221; (or something similar). \u00a0The shameful thing was that a lot of the pieces had extremely low prices, i.e. in the hundreds instead of thousands.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Josh Keyes\" src=\"http:\/\/www.joshkeyes.net\/Home%20FRENZY09.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"439\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another animal on fire piece by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joshkeyes.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Keyes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/viewmorepics.myspace.com\/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&amp;friendID=48017733&amp;albumId=111405&amp;page=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"KMDZ\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FF3MCQDI\/AAAAAAAAAcQ\/tj7ckMenZHU\/s800\/KMNDZ.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"476\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Robot stuff by <a href=\"http:\/\/viewmorepics.myspace.com\/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&amp;friendID=48017733&amp;albumId=111405&amp;page=1\" target=\"_blank\">KMNDZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"unkown cool artist\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FIX1i1mI\/AAAAAAAAAco\/dU2L4L6IyNY\/s800\/unknownartist1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"327\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This piece was not labelled&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scarboy.net\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"chris scarborough\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scarboy.net\/Thumbnails\/Drawings\/evolutionist.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"563\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scarboy.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Scarborough<\/a> &#8220;big eyes&#8221; drawing.<\/p>\n<p>In another gallery I noticed several paintings were the same as over a year ago when I&#8217;d visited. \u00a0A sad thing since this were excellent pieces:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vincentcalenzo.com\/Paintings.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"vincent Calenzo\" src=\"http:\/\/vincentcalenzo.com\/Paintings_files\/websitetrouble.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There were several unsold <a href=\"http:\/\/vincentcalenzo.com\/Paintings.html\" target=\"_blank\">Vincent Calenzo<\/a> pieces.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"new art\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FGFe5DGI\/AAAAAAAAAcU\/cVBC46pWdrI\/s800\/newart.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1492\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There were several variations on the theme of &#8220;woman on rope,&#8221; which I thought were great, and remind me somewhat of my own work (although obviously this was much better). \u00a0The owner of the gallery was sitting there behind his desk and was very curious about what Byron and I did for a living and how much we got paid. \u00a0He related that the art world has hit hard times, worse than any other recession he has seen and he was &#8220;and old man now.&#8221; \u00a0He said twenty years ago he had a 5,000 square foot gallery in New York City, and now he&#8217;s been reduced to a small room at Bergamot and many of the artists he represents are not doing so well either.<\/p>\n<p>One small gallery had several palm tree pieces by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.robertdunahay.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Robert Charles Dunahay<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.robertdunahay.com\/index.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"palm series\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FHI5x4cI\/AAAAAAAAAcc\/r40lXy-TNjc\/s800\/robertcharlesdunahay.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And of course, here is an example of the required crap that always shows up&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"bullshit\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FEIEWH2I\/AAAAAAAAAcA\/HpujKI4rBwQ\/s800\/bullshit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"869\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Outside of the Santa Monica Museum of Art (which was apparently displaying votive figures made in Africa out of&#8230;well&#8230; literally shit) we took this photo:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"SMMOA\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FH0oXnNI\/AAAAAAAAAcg\/CDrTdLlrSJU\/s800\/SMMOA.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"905\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Against a nearby wall was an old Mercedes turned into a planter:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"mercedes\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FFerJRSI\/AAAAAAAAAcM\/bCkwNrnVlS0\/s800\/gardenmercedes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After Bergamot we drove down to Venice and walked the canals before walking almost all the way up the beach to Santa Monica and back.<\/p>\n<p>We encountered a large drum circle:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"drum circle\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FE3fp36I\/AAAAAAAAAcI\/OUxFWFSXTc8\/s800\/drumcircle.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"B\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FDtI4MNI\/AAAAAAAAAb8\/_bPrLVyFixY\/s800\/Bmoney.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the end of the Venice Pier we held a gun to a woman&#8217;s head and made her take our picture. \u00a0Byron may get some freelance web work from her out of the deal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"brothers?\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FIIV2_-I\/AAAAAAAAAck\/crySbqu5xnc\/s800\/twocrzyguys.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She asked us if we were &#8220;friends, brothers, partners?&#8221;
