{"id":954,"date":"2009-04-06T20:55:47","date_gmt":"2009-04-07T04:55:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=954"},"modified":"2009-07-16T08:20:26","modified_gmt":"2009-07-16T16:20:26","slug":"byron-day-viii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.andrewlorenzlong.com\/?p=954","title":{"rendered":"Byron Day VIII"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We started off Sunday with a visit to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redballs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Red Balls Pizza.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"giant pizza\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FJoO2DyI\/AAAAAAAAAcw\/LbYz1hQYu_0\/s800\/byrondayVIII-002.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After which we went to Malibu Creek State Park.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"grassland trail\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FMOYWfdI\/AAAAAAAAAdE\/DUnErq6V0Mw\/s800\/byrondayVIII-023.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After walking down the main trail we stopped by the visitor center for a drink and found these old\u00a0Macs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"awwww\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FJwBhOWI\/AAAAAAAAAc0\/VdO7_vsJ5-w\/s800\/byrondayVIII-004.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0We continued on and climbed up to the first (easy) vantage point by the &#8220;pool&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"wading\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FKaNvI9I\/AAAAAAAAAc4\/lzPDitCG_sw\/s800\/byrondayVIII-009.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After that we took a somewhat difficult rock climb up to the &#8220;top.&#8221;\u00a0 Of course when we got there we discovered there was a much easier dirt trail north of our path.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"top of mountain...not really\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FLCxz3LI\/AAAAAAAAAc8\/Cj1isB_o7Eg\/s800\/byrondayVIII-015.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We took the grassland trail out of the park and discovered the end of the trail was quite literally where I had parked on Mullholland Drive.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"grassland trail\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FLl7IutI\/AAAAAAAAAdA\/gTig3n88_FE\/s800\/byrondayVIII-020.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We hit the 101 and headed to Thai Town for the Songkran Thai New Year Festival and Curry Festival.\u00a0 At the event we saw a few interesting things.<\/p>\n<p>kickboxing<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"kickboxing\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FMqKSgSI\/AAAAAAAAAdI\/3-UKbihRGCA\/s800\/byrondayVIII-048.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thai Idol<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Thai Idol\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FNEpKPHI\/AAAAAAAAAdM\/F39mnng6I2A\/s800\/byrondayVIII-051.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Karaoke (these kids seemed to be dressed more like japanese pop stars than Thai, but then again I know nothing of Thailand music).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"crazy kids\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FOIQp75I\/AAAAAAAAAdU\/U3kxR7AD4iQ\/s800\/byrondayVIII-060.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"478\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and finally &#8211; the infamous <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kathoey\" target=\"_blank\">Kathoey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Kathoey\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ft-qCjvrMks\/Sl7FNvj0eiI\/AAAAAAAAAdQ\/HhKlDdifL9E\/s800\/byrondayVIII-055.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"410\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We ate BBQ on a stick, curry shrimp\u00a0and some guava nectar before heading home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We started off Sunday with a visit to Red Balls Pizza.
