On Saturday I went to the Brewery art walk<\/a> with a friend. We saw the whole thing in about two and a half hours. The complex is massive, but I came away pretty unsatisfied. The quality of art available was lower than both the Downtown Art Walk and the art at Bergamot Station. Kind of a sad ordeal considering this event is only an annual one.<\/p>\n

Anyway – on with the art:

This was being sold as art. Seriously. Yes, the piece on top, the red masking tape.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Although there were a few spaces\/galleries with art made by children, sadly, this was not one of them. Yes, $100 each for something (that looks like something) your neighbor’s kid made in sixth grade art class.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Remember that goth girl in high school that thought her drawings of babies eating other babies was really shocking and “dark?” Well she went off to art school and discovered paint, plexiglass and superglue.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This was in the same gallery, called “Preserved Innocence.” After I took the shot the owner or artist (she was goth so she could have been either\/both) ran over and sternly told me there was no photography. I should have known not to photograph inside the museum of misplaced adolescent issues. The largest piece in this gallery was a schoolhouse skeleton painted black and crucified.<\/p>\n

The best art in the entire place was actually at a gallery showcasing recent MFA grads (although it wasn’t apparent which school they came from).<\/p>\n

This was really well done, but I’m sorry, I can’t help but think of this:

and then I watched Requiem for a Dream on Hulu today.. coincidence<\/strong>???<\/p>\n
