On Saturday Amy and I went to Denny’s for a free brunch with coupons she’d obtained from her brother. From there we headed up into Angeles National Forest on one of the most dangerous roads in America – Angeles Crest Highway. It was overcast and we didn’t really know what we were doing. I had printed out directions to hiking trails from the Angeles Forest website, but the information was outdated and many trails were closed. California has the first national parks system to charge a parking fee for ALL parking inside the forest. We had to buy the pass before going in. Luckily the pass can be saved for another day, so we decided to try again some other time when we’d have more time to hike (the trails close at 4:30). I took one fuzzy picture from a hilltop, which is located here. If you look down in the middle you can see downtown LA, and although it doesn’t show in the picture – we could see the ocean too. I also took a picture of the car, since nobody knows what it looks like after got it back from the shop; that can be seen here

A stroke of ignorance
I’m writing this down just for my own remembrance later. Often if there’s a question “when did we do X, or where did we go at Y?” I can search this blog to get the answer. I assume this tool will be even more useful as I age and become more naturally forgetful. Speaking of […]
Konaheads
Before Trump took office we’d planned to do a snorkeling escape with our snorkeling friends every February. Why February? Well if we lived in Ohio we could say it’s to get away from the cold, but it doesn’t really get that cold in Los Angeles. However, it is Chinese New Year, and that’s when Sam’s […]
Ad-Hoc Parent Talk
Writing these is weird now. The only folks that read them are Mom, Dad, maybe Lois, and myself when I’m looking up some tidbit of info about something we did a long time ago. Sorry if anybody else reads this and thinks “hey!” – let me know! My parents came to visit for five days […]
