new site, california, computer, dolly trauma concert
This may be the last post on here. I’m building a new version of this site again…I seem to do this every 6 months or so..so it was about time. I’m trying some new things out with the new site. It will be much more streamlined than the last one. More designerly than flashy. I’m adding a fully operational (comments/archives/calendars/etc.) blogger. I’m hand coding the CSS and PHP files myself so it won’t look boring though. This is new territory so I’m learning something new every day. I don’t mind all the work (frustration!) so much because it is knowledge that will help me get jobs some day I’m sure.
California is coming up quick, but not quick enough. The tentative leave date right now is August 23rd, but there are too many variables still up in the air to make it official.
My computer may be seeing its last days..bad news because I can’t afford to plop down $1000 for a new computer when I’m moving.
I drove up to Kent (all by myself…) last night to see Dolly Trauma. I have to say the show wasn’t very good. It was no fault of the band though. The sound tech at The Robin Hood Inn must have been asleep or something. All I could hear was bass and drums…and everything was pumped much louder than it should have been (even for a local rock show). I know some bands do that on purpose (cough cough the deftones), but I find it hard to believe that Jeff and Josh, being the perfectionists that they are, would want the audience to just hear fuzz come out of the speakers. It was an all ages show, so there were a bunch of dumb high school kids creating a mosh pit and losing teeth/blood which made it hard to watch the band.
I had to jet off pretty quick after the show…it is about a 2 hour and 15 minute drive…and the show wasn’t over till 12:30. Before I left Jeff gave me two shirts. I think I’ll probably give one to B when I see him in July. Thankfully, a friend called me (and kept calling again and again when cingular would drop the connection) on the way home to keep me from falling asleep.
