Saturday Sun

Saturday I rounded up some Nipa Hut before taking my parents and Beverly to the Griffith Park Observatory. At first it looked like we were going to have to park far away and walk up – but like a chapter out of The Secret, as we drove up to the tunnel the workers removed the cones and let us drive up to the parking lot – where there was actually ample parking. My parents grumbled a bit about seeing the planetarium show – until they got inside and realized this was like no planetarium show they’d seen before (okay so it kind of started off like it – but took off from there). We toured the museum, touched moon rocks, hung out with Einstein, etc.

Coming out of the plane-arium and looking down upon LA.

Stopping for a drink and a laugh at the cafe at the end of the universe.

I personally think this is a sculpture of Einstein doing a Mark Twain impression – or maybe it is the opposite… Whoever he is he didn’t get the memo that we’re tired of that “pull my finger” joke.

After the Observatory we made our way to Yamashiro Restaurant for dinner. Without reservations we were able to stroll right in on a Saturday night, although the sun was still out so I suppose it was still early. Oh – and my mother was gracious unlucky soul who volunteered to pick up the massive tab. After yamashiro we headed back to my condo for some ice cream.
