legendary drinks

On Friday night I met with Kent and Melody at Miceli’s for dinner.  After dinner we went to Yamashiro (which has finally finished their “pagoda bar” that was closed for 4+ years).

After about 45 minutes a tall guy with long curly black hair came in and sat down at a table about ten feet away.  I recognized him right away.  I mentioned it to Kent who is a big  fan and we were furiously typing away on our smartphones looking up pictures to make sure he was who we thought.  The pictures seemed to match, and so we googled the man’s wife, who looked online an awful lot like the woman sitting next to him.  They were sitting across the table from a young couple.

The man in question sitting ten feet away was the legendary Brian May from Queen.

I didn’t have my camera, but Melody had hers (which is actually the same model I have) and we took some photos outside (without flash) from a distance as May was sitting by the window in the front.

I later doubly confirmed that this was Brian May as on his own blog he writes about being in Los Angeles on Friday (and he also seems like a really nice guy, apparently).

Until I researched him last night I never realized that Brian May had a PhD in Astrophysics.

I guess that champions song was autobiographical, after all, how many guys with PhDs sell 300 million records?

Incidentally he was wearing an old 70s style “puffy pirate” shirt, which no non-rockstar senior citizen would wear.

Very impressive–altho your mother would say”where’s the rock star?” because she doesn’t like Queen.
See if you can arrange an appearence by Scarlett Johansson’s breasts in December.
I had to go all the way to Thailand to see Joey Heatherton in ’65.
