Cars and jobs
Many of you that are the closest to me know of my struggle to find my car at the right price I looked at a lot of cars…and I chose to test drive the RSX, Mazda3, and Mazda6. Both of the Mazda’s had better interiors than the Acura. I liked the 3, but after driving a 6, there is no going back. The 3 probably has the best interior design in its class, but the 6 has a better interior than some cars above its class. The only car interior under 30 grand that could compete with the 6 was the acura TL, which has a base price 9,000 higher than the 6(i). I wanted to get the 6 in hatchback, but I needed to get a car by the time this quarter is over and Mazda won’t build them without all the options until this summer (or later). So I had to be content with the regular sedan. I really liked the sepang green color (kind of a pearlish white green) and decided to get a V6. Turns out, there are NO green V6s without options for sale in ohio at the moment. The only V6 that wasn’t totally tricked out (to the tune of 26k) was in dayton. Even Ricart concurred that this car in Dayton was the only V6 in Ohio without all the options. MazdaDirect made me an offer on the car that was too good to pass up. I took the car home today and it is perfect. The MSRP was 24,110 before rebates, and they sold it to me for 22,850 before rebates WITH the bose audio and sport appearance packages. So after rebates (1500 general and 500 for graduating) the car came to 20,850. I only ended up financing it for about the cost of a (base) cavalier though because my parents are the best parents in the world!
I also applied for a job in Los Angeles last week. If I get the job I’ll be teaching inner city kids. Pretty good deal, salary with benefits for 2 years and 40% off grad school tuition at LMU (which I’ve heard is a very good school). I will know whether I get an interview by the 24th. If I do, and the interview goes well, I will be notified of my acceptance (or not) by April 8th and if I’m accepted I’ll start work in the fall. Looks like keeping that high GPA did do me some good after all! I’ll keep y’all up to date on what happens with that.
