I read a lot about longevity. I’m one of the few people who actually wants to be frozen like a popsicle when I die in the hopes that I can be thawed out when … well, whenever, I guess. I keep up on all of the Singularity developments. I read Kurzweil’s blog. I know who Aubrey de Grey is. I’m aware of that 2045 “movement.” I followed the resveratrol thing and the calorie limiting diet thing and a lot of other things. I’ve watched all the movies about what we eat and shouldn’t eat. I avoid GMOs, avoid caffeine, never smoked a cigarette and usually exercise five days a week. I’m “into” all of that healthy stuff.
So when I see a blog post on my RSS feed called “How to Live to a Ripe Old Age” from National Geographic I automatically click through. I’m used to seeing the usual “drink more wine and avoid stress” stuff which I have a tough enough time doing, but I wasn’t prepared for the newest round of special advise on living forever.
The subheading for the article:
“For starters, eat nuts and socialize, says longevity expert Dan Buettner.”
crap…
I don’t know which is more painful for me… socializing or eating nuts.
Looks like I’ll be shoved in that freezer quicker than I thought.
