  1. The pumps are not so bad. We have quite a few here in the canyon in Castaic. Once the drilling is finished a small pump is put in and it just pumps! The pumps are smaller than wind mills.

I’m not against getting energy from wind. I’m just against people who think we have to do everything possible to eliminate all oil consumption in America. Wind isn’t going to make my car run.

I do have a problem with T Boone trying to convince everyone that his plan is somehow for the betterment of America when really all he’s doing is trying to line his own pockets.

  2. Well, Lord Obama may dispute just what that “religion stuff” is when he is high overlord of the world; he already thinks what China does is just dandy and better than the U.S.A.—-and besides—what difference does “winning” makes as long as everybody feels good about themselves.

  3. By the way – China beat us in gold medals not because of intense training and torture (sorry, but telling a teenage girl not to eat dinner for a year, not see her parents and develop retinal damage sounds like torture to me), but because some of our teams (I’m looking at you, track and field) just plain sucked. I mean, the whole point of a relay is to transfer the baton… what did both our teams do – dropped it. What did our gymnasts do? Fell, hopped and tripped our way to second…all without a broken leg.

America didn’t even hold up to our own standard this time, let alone the world standard. If Phelps hadn’t won eight medals all by himself where would we be? An olympic champion country can’t consist of one guy….

  4. the real problem with wind power is that the cost to manufacture and install a turbine far exceeds its worth. nuclear is the only answer that makes any sense. the real cost of wind power is nearly 3 to 1 over coal burning plants. a better investment would be to put all our resources toward coal technology, and constructing nuclear plants.

look at european countries withdrawing subsidies from wind power. without massive government sponsorship production of new wind farms has ground to a halt, and in fact some are being decommisioned.

if wind was the answer boone would not need to advertise.

  5. actually, yes, corn was on sale at Vons a few weeks ago. I almost picked up a few ears – but already had plans for the rest of the weekend and wasn’t sure how long you’re supposed to let it sit.

But yes, ethonal is a not the best way… Nobody has to plant and grow the wind first… and starving kids in Africa can’t eat the wind. I think we should fill as many high-wind low-people areas with wind farms as possible… might as well harness the energy. I actually think the wind farms in the antelope valley and on the way to Palm Springs look pleasant, much less of an eye-sore than an oil drilling set-up….

  6. I’m not sure what winning (or in this case not winning) proves about a country anyway… There is a world championship in every sport every year anyway…the general public just takes notice every four years

  7. If T hadn’t been so brilliant in his efforts I’d call him some nasty names. Bravo to a smart guy who knows how to manipulate law.

But I STILL don’t want to pursue wind as an alternative energy source. If HE wants to pursue and try to make money, so be it. Just don’t tell me that I’m a terrible person if I think there’s no value in such projects. Our last push for alternative energy was an expensive disaster and the government STILL hasn’t given it up! Did you see any corn on sale this summer?

  8. Am I the only one that thinks communism isn’t a very “religious” form of government? These quotes allude to the Chinese having a spiritual dedication to their country – yet their allegiance is to the official flag of communism. By its nature communism is about society – not a diety… You can’t mix them, and if you do (as seen by Chinese quotes in this article) it just sounds really awkward … to me anyway.
