Mr. kissyface fish (otherwise known as an algea eater) started eating the scales of the last remaining goldfish – and today Mr. Calico Goldfish was dead.
I’m getting rid of the ugly one and just keeping one fancy goldfish…
and yes, I’ve been putting algea discs in the tank this whole time…
I had a goldfish in a bowl for two and a half years before he finally kicked the bucket last Spring. I’ve tried to get another goldfish like him but they’ve all died within a week or so of being bought. I even splurged on a fancy beta but he also kicked the bucket within the first week.
I’ve always had goldfish. Usually they last a long time. I haven’t always had algea eaters though – looks like that was a bad idea.
Algae eaters are only good if you have a variety of larger, slightly more aggressive fish that will push him away when he gets too close. I used to have African cichlids and the algae eater did just fine with those. Algae eaters are best with large tanks.
I used to have chichlids too. With goldfish. In the same tank.
I was stupid.
LMAO. ohhhh you just made my day. too funny.
