christmas

Well christmas came and went. I received many thoughtful gifts. Such items included a shark vacuum and Norelco electric shaver from Amy. Also gift certificates from Supercuts…so I don’t mess up my hair by trying to cut it myself again. Among the things Mom sent were some homemade items like grape jelly, chocolate chip cookies, and Trail Bologna.

On christmas day I went with Amy and her family to visit her uncle and cousin in rancho santa fe. Before that we stopped by F-Street in San Diego for lunch. I had met this San Diego portion of her family before, but this time her other cousin Jennifer and her husband (and his parents) were there. Amy is very close to Jennifer because she lives in State College PA and Amy spent a lot of time around her when she was going to PSU. We couldn’t stay long because Amy had to work Sunday morning. Before we left we toured her cousin Wayne’s new 3+ million dollar house, which included a late model Porsche 911 turbo in the garage. After we left there the sun was beginning to go down, so we decided to skip the beach this trip.

The rain started pouring last night. It is coming down in Ohio-like torrents right now. The freeways are very dangerous when wet out here. They are in horrible shape all over the county, and when they get wet all those little grooves and cracks and stuff fill with water and can have you hydroplaning very easily. That plus most of the other drivers around here #1 can’t drive safely in the first place and #2 are so not used to driving in the elements that they lose control when we get what you folks in the east would call a sprinkling. There were few cars on the road at 7 this morning, I guess most people just gave up on trying to drive through it today.

Amy’s friend Jay is in town this week. I’ll play racquetball with him tonight. Ironic since he was the last person I played with when he came two months ago.
