NOTE: as I was preparing to post this I received an email (which I honestly thought was a phishing scam at first) from YouTube that my channel has been removed because of “severe or repeated violations of our spam, deceptive practices and scams policy.” This took me a while to figure out, but what I gather […]

Or Are We Gone?
After coming back from New Zealand on February 3rd and seeing the chaos the new administration was intent on sowing immediately (an upgraded Bannon “Flood the Zone” tactic, now that all the slightly-less-than-ultra right wing folks like Tillerson that might urge any caution against running afoul of the constitution have been expelled from the cult) […]

It’s only New Zealand once
Friday Every time I write about us going on some trip I have to put the disclaimer about covid cautious behavior. Yes, we ate outside every time (except for planes which require a hold breath, bite/drink, exhale, remask procedure, which sounds ridiculous but it’s that or no water for 13 hours). Yes, masks everywhere. Yes, […]
I only got a few minutes into it before YouTube yanked the video, but I can comment on what I saw up until then.
Stuff like this is assinine because the primary goal of it is to bemoan the US. Unfortunately, they can’t even give proper information without presenting the facts in a skewed manner.
First off, if you use the population numbers for the countries given in comparison with the number of college graduates, the US has a much higher percentage of graduates than China or India. In fact it’s almost double in percentage.
If I had to choose a country in which to live and be a poor person, neither China nor India would be high on the list. The conditions of the poor in those countries are far, far worse than the US.
When they claim that people will have 10 to 14 jobs in their lives in the US do they also count the jobs people have in their teenage and young adult years before they settle into a profession? I had 5 different jobs by the time I was 20. And that doesn’t even count a paper route and nanny job I had. Switching from one job to another is not a bad thing. Usually people switch from one company to another in order to recieve higher pay, better benefits or both. Why would it be considered bad to switch when you get a better offer?
Just some things to think about.
