Byron Day VIII

We started off Sunday with a visit to Red Balls Pizza.

After which we went to Malibu Creek State Park.

After walking down the main trail we stopped by the visitor center for a drink and found these old Macs.

We continued on and climbed up to the first (easy) vantage point by the “pool”

After that we took a somewhat difficult rock climb up to the “top.”  Of course when we got there we discovered there was a much easier dirt trail north of our path.

We took the grassland trail out of the park and discovered the end of the trail was quite literally where I had parked on Mullholland Drive.

We hit the 101 and headed to Thai Town for the Songkran Thai New Year Festival and Curry Festival.  At the event we saw a few interesting things.

Thai Idol

Karaoke (these kids seemed to be dressed more like japanese pop stars than Thai, but then again I know nothing of Thailand music).

and finally – the infamous Kathoey.

We ate BBQ on a stick, curry shrimp and some guava nectar before heading home.
