The day that Ward Churchill is fired from his position at CU Al-Qaeda can declare victory in its holy war against American idealism. Because once college professors (the supposed bastions of liberal free thought) can’t write “anti-American” papers free speech will be dead. Being politically correct as a news anchor or newspaper reporter is one thing, they have to pander to an audience that needs to be advertised to in order to keep getting a paycheck. University is another matter entirely. College plays a pivotal role in shaping the minds of an intelligent nation. While the GOP may hustle and bustle and cringe about the “rampant liberalism” on our nations campuses, I think it is a damn good thing. Where the hell else can you find “rampant liberalism” these days outside of Los Angeles or New York City?! Intelligent Americans need to be exposed to this other side of the coin if only for perspective. They could agree with the “liberal” ideals -which I like to call “common sense” – like gas=pollution=Americans die..so no point in going to war to get it…lets make some American engineers rich finding alternative energy instead – think about it…do you think the engineers in Detroit an 80 BILLION dollar budget to figure out how to make an electric car? Well that is what Bushie wants us all to give him to get oil from Iraq.. Or these youngsters in college will use their liberal learning environment to bolster their own faith to our father and savior George W. Bush.
A supposed tenet of the Qur’an (although I think it is probably some twisted dogma) is the denial of free speech. It is America’s free speech that allowed it to become the dominant nation in the world. With free speech comes free enterprise and aggressive business strategies (such as putting your fingers into other nation’s oil wells). The whole purpose of the terrorist attacks was to tell us as a nation to “shut the hell up” and mind our own business. While we retaliated in kind, killing thousands of innocent muslims in Iraq, we waved our white flag from the very beginning. The Hawks jumped at the opportunity to erase civil liberties as they had waited for since the first Iraq war. We might as well have called the Patriot Act the Muslim Mandate. The only difference between America and pre-war Iraq now is the fact that in Iraq if you criticized the president, the president would have you killed…In America, some jackass from the south who keeps a framed picture of Dubya on his mantle AND the dash of his mud encrusted 88 Camaro T-tops will drive to Colorado and shoot Ward Churchill (or wait until he goes to Florida as you can see in the article). At the very least, government puppets worried about future funding will make sure that his life is ruined (fired and credibility dashed by false accusations). Now I know these allegations against him may turn out to be true, but the public will remember it as fact (we don’t dispute the fact that Jacko is a child molester…right? has he ever actually been convicted of the crime?)
Whether you like it or not bigots and prejudice have a right to exist and thrive in America. I wonder if Mothers Against Drunk Driving would hire a lawyer to try to get me fired from my job if I wrote a paper about how the victims of drunk drivers were culpable too as they were participating in polluting the world by driving gas powered automobiles. I don’t agree with that statement by the way, but it is a scary thing to think that I am not “allowed” to say it.
If you want to drive an 88 Camaro T-tops, get drunk every friday, and have kids that you can’t afford to send to college…. Don’t tell (or tell your congressman) Ward Churchill he can’t write two words (little Eichmanns) on a piece of paper.
Or tell Howard Stern he can’t say “boobies” on the radio either.
